Belarus
Belarus is often referred to as the last totalitarian regime in Europe and the government under President Alexander Lukashenko, maintains tight control on all civil society. The 2002 Religious Law severely curtailed religious freedom and any denomination or religious groups outside of the state affiliated Orthodox Church, have great difficulties in operating freely and openly. A number of religious leaders have been the victims of arbitrary arrest, harassment and imprisonment over the past year.
