India  27/05/2012

Sunday

Praise God that proposals for a Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill have been drafted by the National Advisory Council of the Government of India. Pray that the Bill would be passed.

Monday

Pray that the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill would effectively cover all aspects of such violence, including the incitement of violence, failures of law enforcement officials, and access to justice and reparations for the victims.

Tuesday

Pray for the repeal of anti-conversion laws which exist in five states and which are used to give moral justification for violence against Christians. Pray for an ongoing court case against the anti-conversion law in Himachal Pradesh state.

Wednesday

Pray for a good judgement in the ongoing Supreme Court case to ensure that Dalits who change faith do not lose their state benefits, and pray that the Government, which has stalled the case, would engage with it in a positive way.

Thursday

Ask God to free the churches from all traces of caste distinction and prejudice.

Friday

Thank God for the work of Dr John Dayal, co-founder the All India Christian Council (aicc), one of CSW’s partners, who visited Europe as CSW’s guest earlier this year. Ask God to grant him full health, energy and wisdom to cope with a hugely demanding role.

Saturday

Pray for Dr Dayal and other prominent leaders of civil society in India to be effective in promoting justice.
