EGYPT 20/11/2011

In the build up to the first stage of elections planned for 28 November, religious minorities in Egypt are in need of our prayers. This year has seen an increase in sectarian violence, with over 44 incidents reported so far, compared with 53 from 2008 to 2010. Then there is the military’s attack of peaceful protestors in early October. The nation is in desperate need of our prayers.

Individuals across the region need to know their rights in order to speak up for them. To meet this need, several small groups have formed; but they need support and help to understand how to advocate effectively at a national level. By buying this gift, you’ll be strengthening the national voice to obtain the equality of rights that everyone deserves. You’ll give them the confidence and the skills to report on human rights violations, speaking up for others who suffer, and ultimately creating hope for the future.
