Tuesday 1 September
Heavenly Father, we thank and praise You for the nation and people of China and for Your Church there. Thank You, Lord, that You protected and upheld Christians during a time of increased persecution in China last year.
Wednesday 2 September
Ask God to continue to protect and strengthen Chinese Christians as they seek to help develop a just and harmonious society.
Thursday 3 September
Pray for the nation of China as the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China is celebrated, that this would be an opportunity for greater openness and freedom and for improvements in human rights in China.
Friday 4 September
Security measures around the 60th anniversary celebrations are reported to be as stringent as at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Pray for protection and strength for the Christian community.
Saturday 5 September
Pray that the enforcement of ‘strict measures’ will not lead to a crackdown on religious groups as was seen in the period leading up to the Olympics.
